<\/a>Cowboys and Angels barbershop in Trondheim<\/p><\/div>\n
Today I\u00a0went to the salon “Cowboys and Angels” in the Solsiden area\u00a0in Trondheim.<\/p>\n
After I published\u00a0the blog post about my visit at\u00a0“H2 Barber and Sons” here in Trondheim, I got a tip that there is now at least a couple more\u00a0new salons in Trondheim\u00a0that\u00a0offer straight razor shaves.\u00a0It actually turned out\u00a0that this salon, Cowboys and Angels, has existed since August 2013. I first sent them an email, but got no reply. I then tried to check prices and information on their website, but it did not work. Their Facebook page, however, worked fine \u2013\u00a0and what I saw there seemed promising. I therefore took a chance on just turning up at the salon. Hoping that they had time to give me a shave.<\/p>\n
When I arrived at the salon I was greeted by a very nice guy named Jacint Casanova. “Thats quite of a name to live up to” I say. He laughs. Jacint is a very nice guy, and it turns out that he has 16 to 17 years experience as a hairdresser and barber in Barcelona.
\nAlso in Spain, as in Norway, one has ceased to teach knife shaving at barber schools, but Jacint was an apprentice\u00a0in a traditional barbershop, and learned shaving there.<\/p>\n
Cowboys and Angels is a hair salon with quite modern interior. They take both men and woman. First I talk a little with Jacint about the barber profession and traditions, and I give him a copy of my book.<\/p>\n
Then I sit down in the chair. He starts with massaging in\u00a0some pre shave\u00a0cream. Then he puts on a warm towel\u00a0which he moistens and warms under running water. He folds the towel over the face with good barbershop technique. He then works in a layer\u00a0of shaving cream, using a brush. He takes his\u00a0time on this. Something I know is wise: The more time spent to moisten the beard, the smoother the\u00a0shave will be. After a thorough lathering he puts a Astra blade into his Shavette.<\/p>\n
The shave is gentle but effective. It is noticeable that he has over 16 years experience. The technique is very good. Cowboys and Angels offer only one type of shaving, and does not distinguish between different varieties, “Shaving is shaving” said Jacint.
\nShaving costs 500, – and it is worth every penny. He first shaves first with the grain, before adding on a new layer of cream\/lather, and then takes a round side to side, with touch ups.
\nThe result is a smooth and fine shaving. The visit to Cowboys and Angels were very nice.<\/p>\n
